Cincinnati is NOT a big League Town
by Haroldfromhamilton on Oct 31, 2007 - 9:50 a.m.
They said that it wouldn't last -- and they were correct. What do I mean? Marvin Lewis and his Bengals turn-around program. Back-to-back 8-8 seasons look good to us now don't they? However, the reality is that Bengal fans won't see 8-8 this year, or years into the future.

Cincinnati is not a big league town. We don't have big league money or big league ownership. We don't have big league dreamers or big league doers.

Cincinnati cannot dream big enough or long-enough. As such, Cincinnati will never get to the play-offs in football or baseball in the next decade.

Big league players don't want to play here and big league managers or coaches will only stay here until they are fired or find something better.

Having said that, I still love Cincinnati for what it is -- a great place to raise your family and to work and play. But it is a horrible place to live if you like big league competition.

There are worse things in life than not having a winning football or baseball team. However, let's face reality -- we do not have what it takes to put together a winning tradition in sports.

Sorry -- but that's the way I feel.
